Finally, the moment Prague has been waiting for: Dan Brown’s new book The Secret of Secrets will bring the city’s secrets to life!

There is no doubt that Prague plays an important role in both the movie and literary worlds. In the realm of literature, timeless stories have been written by Franz Kafka (Metamorphosis, The Trial, The Castle), Milan Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being), and Laurent Binet (HHhH, about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich). Soon, in September 2025, Dan Brown will join their ranks with his new book The Secret of Secrets.

Several all-time classic films were shot here and continue to inspire thousands of visitors to follow in their footsteps. Let’s mention some of them: Amadeus, Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, xXx, One Life, or Anthropoid.

Dan Brown in Prague: A Journey Beginning in 2014

Dan Brown first visited Prague in 2014 while launching the world staged reading of his previous novel, Inferno. Although he spent only three days in the city, he toured some of its most mysterious places.

“We saw monasteries and secret libraries, castles, synagogues, and cemeteries. I even made it down into your sewer system,” he said. According to Brown, he crossed Charles Bridge about ten times, heard strange stories about Franz Kafka and the Golem, and explored Prague Castle.

What Is The Secret of Secrets About?

The main character remains Robert Langdon. He travels to Prague to attend a lecture by Katherine Solomon, the prominent scientist in the field of neotics. She is ready to publish a work that could shake current views on human consciousness. There is a brutal murder, Kathrerine disappears, and Langdon is the part of the deadly race against the time. Sounds amazing, right? Watch the book trailer here.

“Cutting-edge science is now exploring advanced models of consciousness that seem poised to explain some of the mind’s deepest mysteries. I chose this topic because I find it irresistibly compelling, and also because it is relevant to every single one of us.” Dan Brown for AP News.

Which Prague sites does Robert Langdon visit?

Only Dan Brown can say for sure so far, but you can find some “tips” from Brown himself on his social media. He shared a small travel guide called Live Like Langdon, recommending a visit to the Klementinum and its Baroque Library Hall—a home not just to countless books and manuscripts, but also a secret architectural feature that saves Langdon’s life.

The guidebook also takes you for a walk across Charles Bridge, offering a close encounter with the Vltava River as Langdon would experience it. There are mentions of the Four Seasons Royal Suites, the CODA restaurant (which I highly recommend visiting if you’re in Prague!), and the underground bar Black Angel beneath Old Town Square.
