Let me tell you stories that affected thousands of people in our country during the dark years of World War Two. These stories cover the Nazi occupation and Hitler’s arrival at Prague Castle in March 1939, the deportations of Czech Jews to concentration camps and ghettos and the role of the Czech resistance.

Probably each country has its own “big story” that shows the bravery of the nation.

In Czech lands, it is the story of Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking German Nazi, who became a governor of Czechs in 1941. His arrival to Prague was marked by hundreds of executions and transports of Jews, therefore the Czechoslovakian government-in-exile in London prepared a mission to kill him. They called it the “Operation Anthropoid” and two soldiers, one Czech and one Slovakian, were chosen to execute it.

Eventually, they succeeded and Heydrich died in Prague in June 1942. What followed after this assassination? What happened to soldiers and what price the Czechs had to pay? We will explore during this special tour.

World War Two in Prague: Private 3-hour Walking Tour

The tour is not available on Mondays (as one of the locations we visit is closed).

Sites:

Old Town Square and Old Town Streets
Jewish Quarter (only walking through its streets)
Cathedral Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodius (interiors, closed on Monday). The tour finishes here, so you can spend there more time. It is within walking distance from the Charles Bridge or metro/tram station.

Total price for a private driving tour:

Deposit of 50% (not refundable) to be paid in advance (via PayPal or bank transfer) to secure your date and to pay for a car and driver. The rest you can pay the same way or in cash during the tour.

The price varies according to how big a car is needed. I use professional company – sedan cars for 2 pax and Mercedes Viano cars for 3-6pax (there is 2 row of 3 seats.
